Bi!

In last week's summer malaise, I somehow overlooked posting this milestone...

Madeleine said her first word. While she says "mamamamama..." and "dadadadada..." they are more of a sound and seem to mean "help me" or "comfort me" (i think she knows who each sound correlates to, but Matt & Kim aren't giving credit until there is a short, definite "mama" or "dada")

anywho... i digress. last Sunday (7/27) Kim reached for her bags and Maddie said "Bi!" (aka "bye") Matt told me on Sunday and it was exciting, but we couldn't get her to repeat. So when I was over there last Friday, we acted like I was leaving and I said 'bye' and she looked right at me, slowly lifted her open hand, paused, and huffed "Bi!" while quickly closing her hand shut.

i immediately fell onto the couch. which seemed to confuse her a bit-- but i was just so stunned!

little poopsie is growing up. ...and apparently ready for whatever is next.

or maybe just ready for us to finally leave her alone so she can have a house party.... you decide.
