I totally paused
As I rolled through a stop sign while getting lunch today, I found myself wondering what movie quotes frequently go through other people's minds (if any)? Surely there are some.
For example: everytime I roll a stop sign, I can almost hear 'Cher' flippantly say "I totally paused" or when I bang my elbow/head/knee on an unsupsecting wall/table/chair, I'll mutter: "That's gonna leave a mark..." a la Tommy Boy. There are definitely others.
I wonder if I ever got pulled over for running a stop sign if I would have the guts to tell the officer that "I totally paused" I wonder if I did do that, if the officer would be entertained enough (and have an appreciatiation for the movie "Clueless") that he would let me go with a warning.
You know you have some... but can you remember them on queue or rather, without your queue?

Dear Reagan
Dear Reagan,
This weekend while you were at Nana and Papa's house, I got to hang out with your parents. I also learned that you like to look at blogs - including this one!! This just tickled me pink. Since I don't get to see you as much as I used to, I don't want you to forget me because you are one of my favorite kiddos.
You may have already heard all about the 2008 law group reunion weekend from Sam & Jane's parent's blog. So, I am going to tell you a story about the people in this world you know and love the most: your parents.
They were much happier knowing they would see you the next day and that they had a good picture to show you when they got home. In fact they were so relaxed ...when they thought no one was watching... your parents held hands! =)
The End
I hope you liked your story, Reagan. Be sure to tell your mom and dad that you want to come visit us in Austin! Until then, take good care of your little brother.
See you soon!

Cabana living
Last weekend we *finally* cleaned out the cabana and sent a truck load of stuff to Goodwill. Thus, giving up on a garage sale and finally putting an end to the carting of boxes and stuff we'll never use again between the rooms of the cabana, the casita, in the attic in the house and back again.
Pictures to prove it:
Sorry... I forgot to take 'before' pictures.

Glass half full & treatment half over
One of my dear college friends, Whitney, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this summer. Not only has she faced surgery, treatment and hair loss head-on, she has kept an incredible attitude and emerged -dare I say- happier and more optimistic than ever. Have you ever seen a bald woman glow? Well, she does and I am not referring to the shine, I mean the ear-to-ear grin and the beautiful bald head which she threw a party to shave!
So a huge congratulations to you, Whit! You are much more than halfway through this journey and half of your chemo treatments are behind you!
I am so proud of what you have done with the hand you were dealt. Silly cancer… guess you showed it who's boss!

Isla Mujeres
What did we do?
Well, most of the time, we sat on the beach and watched the waves roll in and the sun set.
The meals and food were delicious (Mmmm.... lots of ceviche). Lobster dinner on the beach, dinner on a pier, and as the sunset over the Caribbean.
Our hotel was incredible and quite peaceful - both in the pool, under the palapas or having breakfast.
No matter where we go, there always seems to be a little bit of home with us.
But my favorite was definitely just being in the salty, sunny waters and on the beach, sand on toes and drink in hand.

you're my moon goddess

And speaking of moon goddesses... does anyone remember that line from "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" Seriously. Great summertime movie.
bottom line: home. relaxed. more to come.

Bi!
In last week's summer malaise, I somehow overlooked posting this milestone...
Madeleine said her first word. While she says "mamamamama..." and "dadadadada..." they are more of a sound and seem to mean "help me" or "comfort me" (i think she knows who each sound correlates to, but Matt & Kim aren't giving credit until there is a short, definite "mama" or "dada")
anywho... i digress. last Sunday (7/27) Kim reached for her bags and Maddie said "Bi!" (aka "bye") Matt told me on Sunday and it was exciting, but we couldn't get her to repeat. So when I was over there last Friday, we acted like I was leaving and I said 'bye' and she looked right at me, slowly lifted her open hand, paused, and huffed "Bi!" while quickly closing her hand shut.
i immediately fell onto the couch. which seemed to confuse her a bit-- but i was just so stunned!
little poopsie is growing up. ...and apparently ready for whatever is next.
or maybe just ready for us to finally leave her alone so she can have a house party.... you decide.

SHARKS!!
Better watch out... there's a whole swarm!
Getting ready for vaca this week. We leave on Sat morning-- this is a great way to remember the dangers lurking.
Back story: the triplets have been in swim class and Eric got them these 'shark goggles' --which they love-- and wear around the house, well, they wear them everywhere, really. Here, the darling little sharkies are spaced out watching TV. Claire saw the pic coming... Faith is redirecting attention and Ava is sufficiently spaced out. I LOVE it. (FYI- the identical girls were wearing the same pjs that night...)

4 of 4
at last! the wait is over (or "finally! no more of these lame posts.")
well... almost. so, i whittled down my big list but removed the ones that really were better left off.
- i love all things argyle - sweaters, socks, undies, you name it.
- i find it therapeutic to polish silver and clean my jewelry
- 9 out of 10 creatures in our backyard (or really anywhere, for that matter) have names. i tell mr. price their names. sometimes he can guess. this is because there are a few predictable parts to this: it so happens that their names always turn out to be an alliteration (!) except our cat, but he is his own exception. also, the creature usually doesn't have a name if it is scary, dead, or grosses me out. however, Tyler S. Robertson has brought louie, larry and lonnie (to name a few) to our back porch... all of which have been lizards. i won't even tell you about bonnie and maurice.
- i'll drop several hundred on a new pair of shoes or a new bag, but i buy generic listerine to save a few bucks.
- most commonly heard phrase in our house "you should never trust a yellow kitty"
- i had braces for 4 years, have worn my retainers for 15+ years, and my bite is still off
- my "next trips" list includes: hong kong, dubai/oman, african safari
- i can occasionally admit that i eat a a ridiculous amount of butter and sugar. mr price would agree with this. most of the time, i deny it. remember those little pats of butter they used to have at restaurants (cardboard on bottom, wax paper on top...)? yeah, i used to eat those. lick, lick, lick.
- my 5th grade math teacher suggested i take remedial classes but my 6th grade math teacher suggested i enter the gifted and talented program- and i was in honors classes every year after that
- i am still angry that the florist from my wedding screwed me over
- i much prefer frilly, lacy, 'girly' pajamas to t-shirt and shorts any day of the week.
- magnolias, fire flies, and secadas remind me of my childhood
- i fear no wine stain
- i am fairly self-aware. um... maybe too self-aware at times.?
- seeing an ambulance or careflight makes me really sad and have to try not cry when one whizzes by
- i have an old soul
- vacation location? BEACH over mountains, without question.
- One of the best feelings in the world: fresh, clean sheets & shaved legs
- Post-coffee house hair grosses me out (but I love the smell of coffee). Ditto for Mexican food restaurants. I can't stand the lingering smell of lattes and enchiladas wafting over from my hair/clothes. ick.
- I am clean but not tidy
- On a regular basis, I DVR: Martha, Girls' Next Door, Dave Letterman, and Grey's Anatomy. However, I haven't turned the TV on all summer.
- I love baking cupcakes. I love baking anything. But generally speaking, it is from a box.
- We got engaged on top of the UT tower
- I'd love to own my own business one day (photography, flowers, or stationery-- something creative)
- If I had it to do over again, I would do it all exactly the same. Except I would have worn more sunscreen.
anything glaringly obvious that you think i've left off?
